Walmart Inc. was founded by Mr. Sam Walton in Arkansas in the United States in 1962. After more than 60 years of development, Walmart now operates more than 10,500 stores and numerous eCommerce websites in 19 countries, and employs approximately 2.1 million associates around the world. Walmart has topped the Fortune 500 list several times.

Walmart Inc. is a people-led, tech-powered omnichannel retailer helping people save money and live better – anytime and anywhere – in stores, online, and through their mobile devices. Walmart continues to be a leader in sustainability, corporate philanthropy and employment opportunity.

As an omnichannel retailer, we changed the company’s legal name from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. to Walmart Inc. on February 1, 2018. The name change chiefly demonstrates the company’s growing emphasis on serving customers seamlessly however they want to shop: in stores, online, on their mobile device, or through pickup and delivery.
